KOTA BELUD: State Rural Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick donated RM100,000 to the Kadamaian Churches Council. The Kadamaian Assemblyman said the donation was part of his provisions under the Sentuhan Kasih (Touch of Love) programme, which he had announced during the Kadamaian Christmas and New Year Open House celebration on Jan 19.ADVERTISEMENT
“I started the programme this year and if it is received well, I plan to make it an annual programme.
“I hope this contribution will help churches of various denominations, including facing the impacts of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the fight against Covid-19,” he said.
He presented the donation to church leaders led by its chairperson Pastor Pool Tompisal at the Kadamaian Contact Office here, Friday.
He also hoped that the church would use a portion of the donation to buy food items for the needy, following the burdensome financial impact of the MCO.ADVERTISEMENT
Meanwhile, Pool expressed gratitude over the kind initiative which was introduced for the first time by a people’s representative in Kadamaian.
“We are very pleased with this gift and it truly helps the needs of the churches in Kadamaian.
