SANDAKAN: Business hours for public markets and gas stations in the district during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period remain at 6 am to 2 pm, said Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) President Wong Foo Tin.“As for supermarkets, grocery stores, restaurants and fast food outlets here, business hours also remain from 6am to 6pm,” he said in a Statement, Tuesday. He was clarifying the confusion of two versions of business hours for Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was reported saying a new directive will call for essential businesses including supermarkets and petrol stations, to operate from 8am to 8pm under the second phase of the MCO, beginning April 1.

Therefore, Wong urged the public and traders in Sandakan to continue abiding by the State’s rules for business hours during the MCO period. The shorter business hours compared to the pre-MCO period were among efforts to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
