Foreigner held for assaulting colleague

RANAU: A foreigner who allegedly injured a colleague was detained by police here.The 30-year-old suspect was arrested at a residential construction site in Kg Muhibbah about one kilometre from town here.

Ranau Police Chief DSP Sammy Newton said police also seized the weapon used in the incident at about 11pm.
“Earlier, police received a tip-off about the incident from the public before a team of officers and police personnel from the Ranau Police Investigation Division rushed to the scene.
“At the scene, police found a man, also a foreigner in his 20s, covered in blood, apparently coming from his stomach and arms.
“The police then called the ambulance for help to send the victim to Ranau Hospital. The victim was treated at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Kota Kinabalu and in stable condition,” he told reporters Wednesday.

According to Sammy, preliminary investigations revealed that the fight was believed to stem from a misunderstanding between the two men.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code. If found guilty, the suspect faced to up to 10 years or fine or whipping or both on conviction.
