Five detained for violating MCO

LAHAD DATU: Five men were detained for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) and having smuggled cigarettes, here, Wednesday.

District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said a 34-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were detained after they were found selling cigarettes behind the fish market in town about 10am.

He said 41 packets of various brand cigarettes and RM1,179 cash were seized from the duo.

The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967, Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 1988 (Act 342) and Rules 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Area) Regulations 2020.

On the same day, Nasri said two siblings and their friend were detained at the main gate of Sahabat 2, Anjung Teduh, Cenderawasih by Rela members for not complying with the MCO.

“They were detained about 7.50pm when the two siblings, aged 26 and 33, went to the main gate to fetch their friend, 18, from Sahabat 4 to stay in their house,” he added. – Eifa Rizan
