PAPAR: Some 437 General Operations Force (GOF) personnel have been deployed to assist the police in carrying out the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Sabah.

Sabah GOF Commander Mancha Anak Anta said they are helping the police to set up roadblocks and patrols throughout the State.

He said they are also helping to enhance safety and security at quarantine centres, apart from securing the frontliners fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We also constantly carry out patrols and inspections on palm oil mills and estates to ensure these places are not operating during the MCO period,” he said here.

Mancha said the Tiger Platoon has also been dispatched to closely monitor “rat trails” which could be used by illegal foreigners to enter the State, especially in Keningau and Kalabakan, Tawau. He assured that despite having deployed a large number of personnel for the MCO, the GOF is still at its best ability in enforcing operations against any security threat and cross-border crime.

“We are committed in ensuring the people are abiding by the MCO and focusing our role in tackling any security threat to the State,” he said.

He urged the public to observe the MCO and prevent the spread of Covid-19.
