Cops get disinfection units

Kota Kinabalu: The state Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has set up a 25 portable sanitation tunnels statewide whereby police, and the public will go through for disinfection as a measure against Covid-19.“This is one of the police initiatives and was intended for the security aspect of the entire police force in Sabah, especially those on field duty.

The portable sanitation tunnel is a local product that costs about RM75,000 and would be installed across Sabah district police headquarters (IPD) within the next three days.
“This will enable higher levels of work motivation and confidence as they are at a higher risk of being infected because they have to deal with the public,” said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass.
“To date, 121 officers and personnel have been suspected of having Covid-19 and quarantined while 48 others have been tested negative after the quarantine period ended.
“Only one personnel so far has been diagnosed with Covid-19 but is in stable condition at Sibu Hospital in Sarawak,” he said.

PDRM has provided help and donations in the form of household goods to 57 officers and personnel.
“Sabah PDRM is also grateful to the State Government for providing what is needed for frontliners. I express my deepest gratitude to all the other forces who helped the State PDRM in enforcing the first and second MCO in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic,” he said.

According to Zaini of 4,228 officers and personnel are involved in executing the MCO statewide.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Among them are about 668 personnel from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), 523 from Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA), 149 are from Police Volunteer Reserve Force (PVR), 54 from the Civil Defence Force (APM), ten from Auxiliary Police, as well as 441 officers and personnel from the General Operations Force (PGA).
