AADK officer held in K’gau

Kota Kinabalu: A National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) officer was arrested for drug possession and smuggling an imitation pistol during the Movement Control Order (MCO) on April 1.State Police Commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass said the suspect, who was driving a Toyota Hilux Revo, was detained at 9pm at the intersection of the Keningau AADK office.ADVERTISEMENT
He said an imitation pistol was found stored in the right pocket of the vehicle on the driver’s side.
“Further investigation on the vehicle’s front bonnet yielded a box of cigarettes placed between the gap of the headlights, which contained a transparent packet with a crystalline substance believed to be syabu.
“The imitation air soft gun and cigarette box containing syabu weighing 50.16gm, as well as the vehicle, were seized,” he told a press conference at the Sabah Police Contingent (IPK) headquarters, here, Friday.

According to Zaini, further investigation revealed that the suspect had purchased the imitation gun along with 100 bullets for RM2,500 via online in 2018.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

For drug possession, the case will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment or 15 times of whipping, on conviction.

For the imitation gun, the case will be investigated under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960, which is punishable with not more than one year’s jail or a fine of RM5,000, or both, on conviction.
