Kota Kinabalu: The State Government via the Sabah Covid-19 Command Centre has gazetted six premises, including three hotels, here as quarantine centres to receive persons under surveillance (PUIs).

State Secretary Datuk Safar Untong said the gazetted premises are the Malaysian Health Ministry Training Institute (ILKKM) at Bukit Padang, Akademi Bomba Sepanggar, Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic, Monaco Boutique Hotel at Sadong Jaya, Ming Garden Hotel & Residences and Pan Borneo Hotel in Putatan.

“The ILKKM consists of two separate fenced blocks – Block 2 with 51 units and Block 3 with 40 units. The 51 units have attached bathrooms while the 40 units have sharing bathrooms.

“Each unit is equipped with a bed, mattress, study table, chair and a fan. Celcom has made an inspection for WiFi installation and will install 10 routers inside, soon.

“Among the services provided are daily health status check, starting at 9am by paramedics, and a medical officer has been dedicated to the care of this centre. Medical services are provided to PUIs suffering from acute or chronic health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and so on,” he said in a statement, Sunday.

Safar said there are also psychosocial support services where counselling officers will reach out to each resident. Meals are also provided which include breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

He said all the expenses are funded by the Government. The Akademi Bomba Sepanggar, he said, consists of 38 hostel rooms equipped with beds, mattresses, study tables, chairs and fans, but the residents will share the bathrooms and toilets.

He said all the 38 rooms have been occupied by PUIs who also receive the same services provided for PUIs in ILKKK. The Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic, Safar said, has 13 hostel rooms equipped with beds, mattresses, study tables, chairs and fans to quarantine PUIs who will also receive the same health and counselling services.

He said Monaco Boutique Hotel at Sadong Jaya has all its 40 single and family rooms, equipped with beds, mattresses, study tables, chairs, air-conditioning, WiFi, bathrooms and toilets, occupied by PUIs.

The services provided at the hotel, he said, are health status check, psychosocial support and medical services that would be carried out according to schedules. Meals are provided.
