Second Covid-19 death in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded the second Covid-19 death, Sunday, involving a 66-year-old man from Tambunan.The man passed away at Keningau Hospital, bringing the number of deaths in the State to two so far. The first was reported in Tawau on March 20, involving a 58-year-old man.

On Sunday, 13 new positive Covid-19 cases were also recorded in the State, taking the total to 238.
Topping the list was Tawau with 67, followed by Lahad Datu (38), Kota Kinabalu (34), Sandakan (19), Kinabatangan (17), Tuaran (17), Beaufort (9), Kunak (8), Putatan (7), Penampang (6), Kota Belud (5), Sipitang (4), Semporna (2), Papar (2), Ranau (2), and Tambunan (1).
To date, the number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Sabah is 34.
Meanwhile, Keningau Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who is also Tambunan Assemblyman, said “it’s a sad day for us and also for the family.”

“I would like to thank the health authorities who had assisted the patient and family members.
“We must look at the Covid-19 issue very seriously as anybody can be infected by the virus,” said Jeffrey, who was an acquaintance of the man.

He said the patient was confirmed positive for Covid-19 by State Health and Wellbeing Minister Frankie Poon on March 28.
He was admitted to the Keningau Hospital the same day, making him the sole Covid-19 patient from Tambunan.
It was understood the patient had travelled to Peninsular Malaysia prior to his hospitalisation and believed to have caught the virus there.
A screenshot of a touching farewell on Facebook, believed written by the man’s son, has been shared widely on social media groups in the State.
Meanwhile, the State Health Department has denied a viral message circulating on WhatsApp claiming that there was a death due to Covid-19 recorded in Beaufort.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

“The information is not true,” said its Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi, in a statement, Sunday.
