Sabah golf supports movement control
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Golf Association fully supports the Movement Control Order (MCO) issued by the government which took effect on March 18 with the expiration date now has been extended to April 14 from March 4.

It’s President Datuk Peter Khoo (pic) in a statement released on Sunday said the action is necessary despite all the golf courses in the state had to be closed as a result in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

“SGA agreed that this is the only way of preventing the spread of coronavirus and it is the civic and moral duty of every citizen of Malaysia to play our part in overcoming this Pandemic onslaught of Covid-19.  “As such, SGA supports the closure of all golf courses during this MCO period by the Government, and we commend all golf clubs in Sabah adhering strictly to the MCO,” he said.

He also said SGA supported the postponement of this year’s Sukma, which was supposed to be in July in Johor to a new date due to Covid-19.

“ As far as Sukma 2020 is concerned, because of MCO, it is a wise and proper decision for the organising authority to postpone it until a later date.  “SGA have advised all our Sukma athletes to stay at home and continue to keep themselves healthy and strong through exercises which they can do at home during this lockdown period.

“They should be able to practice their short game in chipping at the backyard garden and putting on putting mats. I am sure there will be ample time for them to get back to the courses for further practice before Sukma. The most important thing here is we want them to stay home, stay healthy and stay focused.”

Khoo had earlier in March announced an 11-member squad with seven boys and four girls for the Johor Sukma Games.
