Sport grounds still in good shape despite MCO

Kota Kinabalu: All the 16 sports complexes in the state are being maintained properly during the current Movement Control Order (MCO) period, said Sabah Sports Board Manager Terrance Pudin on Tuesday.He said this is to ensure that all the facilities at each complex will be in good shape and ready for the public to use once the MCO is lifted.

“The national or state athletes as well as the general public should not be worried too much despite the MCO because we have taken the necessary measures to ensure that all the facilities are well maintained.
“Security guards are on duty 24 hours daily since the MCO was enforced on March 18 to prevent people from entering as well as to protect the premises.
“At the same time, we have also prepared a special schedule for the workers to do the maintenance jobs. The working schedule will be on rotation basis and each session will only last two hours,” he said.
According to him, they are paying special attention to keeping football pitches and the aquatic centres under their care in tip-top condition.

“Extra care is being given to the football fields; they need to be constantly watered especially during the current draught season while the water quality in the aquatic centres will need to be maintained to certain standard,” he added.
Meanwhile, the football pitches especially here in Kota Kinabalu and in Penampang are expected to be very busy after the MCO is lifted.
