PITAS: Persatuan Rungus Pitas Sabah (Pisaan) fully supports the petition to withdraw and convert the existing MyKad to new one.Pisaan President, Richard Mazagi said the decision to support the motion was made in response to the call by Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu (Upko) President, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (pic).ADVERTISEMENT
“Apart from Upko, this has also been the struggle of several ethnic-based associations in the Sabah, including Pisaan, which strongly opposes the irregularities involved in issuing citizenship cards in the country,” he said in a statement, Monday.
Madius, who is also Deputy Chief Minister (pic), in a recent statement said the increase in Sabah’s population was extraordinary and unreasonable.
For example, the increase in Sabah’s Bumiputera population from 1960 to 2000 was 417 per cent. “This increase was similar to that of a married couple producing 834 children in 40 years,” he said.
Richard said conversion of identity cards to new ones is common as Malaysia has changed it four times.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

“By cancelling the existing identity card, the government will be able to find a solution to the problem without issuing a new identity card to those who have obtained it illegally,” he said.
The online petition was started by a group of pro-Umno youth activists in the Peninsula to urge the Federal Government to expedite the proposal to create a new identity card.
