Only open up when all districts are green zones, says Jamawi

Tenom: The economic sectors in Sabah should only be opened when all districts in the State are categorised as green zones, said Kemabong assemblyman Jamawi Jaafar (pic). While the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was implemented to revive the economy, he said, it would be pointless if the people’s health is affected.

Citing countries like Japan that lifted such restriction earlier, he said, they then faced a second wave of Covid-19.
“The people should obey and respect the State Government’s decision of not implementing CMCO as (several) other states are taking the same stand,” he said in a statement, Monday.
“Even though there are no new cases recorded in Sabah the past few days, it is still early for certain sectors like restaurants to operate fully.
“We need at least two weeks after zero new case or after MCO Phase Four ended to implement the CMCO.”

Noting that it is hard to make any decision during these uncertain times, he said, there are many factors that need to be considered.
To this end, he said, the people’s health should be the top priority.

“We can see from the viral photos in Kuala Lumpur as soon as CMCO was implemented where the number of people in an area was not controlled and social distancing was not practised,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also distributed food baskets to Tenom Usia members as well as the frontliners, here, Sunday.
