Quarantine for 22 Tuaran hospital staff
The Tuaran Hospital still operating, says Director.
Tuaran: The district hospital has denied claims in social media that the quarantine of 22 staff was due to a positive Covid-19 case. It was also circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp that the hospital’s services along with other clinics in the district had been stopped.  Tuaran Hospital Director Dr G Mohan Gopal Naidoo said State Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Frankie Poon had uploaded reports on his Facebook account regarding an individual from Tenghilan who tested positive for Covid-19.

“However, the 22 staff quarantined at the Quarantine Centre in Intan Campus here is a normal procedure for frontliners and not necessarily linked to the patient concerned. “Tuaran Hospital and clinics in the district is still operating smoothly. However at the hospital, we prioritise emergency services to maintain social distancing,” he said. He said Tuaran residents can still seek outpatient treatment from any clinic in the district because doctors’ services are maintained. “It is normal procedure for hospital staff to be quarantined as part of preventive measures for those who have been in contact with individuals or environment suspected of virus infection and they will return to work once their tests results comes out healthy.  “It is known that the Covid-19 infection can come from anyone and I hope the public will not speculate to the point of spreading unverified information on social media,” he said.  Dr Mohan advised the people to contact the Health Ministry for valid and accurate information.
