KOTA KINABALU: The latest positive Covid-19 case in Ranau has been categorised as an imported case, said State Health Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi.

The case, she said, was detected through a sample taken at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport entry point.

“The case involves a student who boarded a specially chartered flight from Sarawak,” she said in a statement, Sunday.

“The patient was placed in a quarantine centre upon arriving in Ranau, and on May 23, the patient was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, for further treatment.”

Meanwhile, for the latest case in Lahad Datu, she said, it was found during a positive case contact tracing activity.

“The patient has been admitted to the Lahad Datu Hospital. Investigations are still conducted for both cases by the Health Office.”

On Sunday, the total case tally in Sabah has increased to 343 with 33 active cases and a total of 305 recoveries.
