Golf, tennis facilities open to the public

Kota Kinabalu: Golf and tennis are the first two sports facilities opened up for the public following the Movement Control Order in March which saw the closure of all sports complexes and hostels managed by the Sabah Sports Board throughout the State.In a statement released on Wednesday, Youth and Sports Minister Phoong Jin Zhe (pic) said golf catering only for driving range will be open to the public from 8am-11am and 3pm-6pm, while tennis is from 8am-10am and 3pm-6pm but priority will be given to State and national athletes.ADVERTISEMENT
“The Youth and Sports Ministry have decided to open up the two facilities to the public in line with the earlier statement issued on May 13 where sports facilities at the sports complexes and hostels throughout Sabah under the management of the Sabah Sports Authority are authorised to operate,” he said.
He urged the public to stay healthy and practice personal hygiene while exercising, and they are also required to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the relevant authorities when using the facilities.
The preventive measure to be taken by all users are practice social distance of at least one metre and preferably two metres in all cases; must wear face masks; washing hands frequently with soap or hand sanitiser; must carry hand sanitiser for personal use and compliance with the no touching policy.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Phoong also added that all bookings need to be made in advance and can be booked online through the GoNet app or contact the Sports Complex booking counter before they are allowed to use the facilities.ADVERTISEMENT
