Gravels has been laid across the damaged section of the road inside the clinic’s grounds.
Kota Kinabalu: A government concessionaire has attended to the potholes inside the compound of the Luyang Health Clinic, following the displeasure expressed by drivers who occupied the public parking spaces or dropped off patients at the main entrance to the medical institution.A spokeswoman for the clinic said gravel had been laid over the damaged sections to offer motorists some temporary relief.ADVERTISEMENT
“More permanent repairs will be implemented once the Movement Control Order (MCO) has been lifted,” she said.
“The concessionaire encountered difficulties sourcing for some of the material needed to perform this task while the Order is in affect.”
She said the clinic’s administration had received numerous complaints, during the MCO period, about the potholes on the grounds.
“In light of this, a request was submitted to have the road where the public parking is located and repaired.”ADVERTISEMENT
“An earlier request to have the road leading to the staff parking at the back of building repaired was green-lit beginning of March.
“However, this work had to be put on hold because of the MCO.”

The spokeswoman was responding to a complaint from a Putatan e-hailing driver about the presence of a “huge pothole” in one part of the compound.
RITCH bemoaned the inconvenience the damaged section of the road caused to motorists just as they entered the grounds of the clinic.
“The pothole is located at a bend in the road and drivers have to slow down to avoid going into the pothole,” he said.
“This causes a congestion especially as motorists can only go in one direction to leave the grounds.”
He said many of his passengers chose to get down before he could reach the front doors of the clinic because they could not endure the jam.
Ritch was at a loss to understand why nothing had been done to attend to the damage.
“If it can’t be sealed, then the clinic’s administration should at least see that gravel is laid over the pothole and the stretch is graded.
“This would offer motorists some relief from the road woes.”
He hoped the local authorities would attend to the pothole as soon as possible as the damaged section was located near a grating in the road.
“The cement on which the grating rests is already cracked.
“If more of the asphalt around the pothole gives way, the grating might also collapse, leaving the clinic with a bigger problem to deal with.”
The spokeswoman said the clinic’s administration had noticed that the potholes resurfaced in the public parking area every few months after they had been resurfaced.
“This happens between three to four times in a year.
“We suspect that this has become a recurring problem because of the type of soil on which the clinic has been built.”
She said the damage to the road had also been exacerbated by the wet weather which the state has been experiencing off late.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

“Under normal circumstances, maintenance on the road is performed as and when it becomes necessary to do so.
“We will check on the condition of the stretch from time to time to ensure that road woes do not crop up so frequently.”
