Covid-19: 43 positive cases among hospital staff

KOTA KINABALU: Some 4,584 hospital staff, including health personnel, security guards and support service personnel in the State had been screened for Covid-19.
Out of the number of screenings, State Health Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said, 43 positive cases had been detected.

She said the screenings were conducted following a Covid-19 cluster among health personnel in the State.
She also said some 16,794 samples had been taken from residents in risk localities, involving eight districts.
“Out of this number, some 30 positive cases were detected,” she said in a statement, Wednesday.
On the latest positive case on Wednesday, she said, the case was categorised as an Imported B case, and it was detected through a sample taken at the Tawau Airport entry point.

“The case involved a woman who boarded a commercial flight from Kuala Lumpur with her family members.
“She has been placed in a quarantine centre upon arrival in Tawau and on Tuesday (May 26), she was admitted to the Tawau Hospital.”

On Tuesday, some 2,340 tests were made, bringing the total tests in Sabah to 81,401.
“Out of 2,340, we found three positive samples – one new case and the other two are repeat samples,” she said.
