Man, 27, fined RM1,300 for disposing stolen aluminium

Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old man was fined RM1,300 or four months jail by the Magistrate’s Court for disposing four pieces stolen aluminium.Mohd Hisyam Ahmad changed his plea to guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles during pre-trial case management of his case on Thursday.

Hisyam, who was on court bail, admitted to committing the offence at 1pm on Sept 13, last year in a premise in Penampang.
The charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both on conviction.
Counsel Amli Nohin representing Hisyam requested for a lenient sentence on the grounds that it was his first offence and promised not to commit similar offence in the future.
Inspector Lim Swee Beng, prosecuting, applied for an adequate sentence.

The court ordered the exhibit be returned to its owner and ordered Hisyam’s bail be refunded to him.
In another case, a 20-year-old man was sentenced to two months jail by the Magistrate’s Court for failing to produce his identification document.

Mohd Rafi Abdul Mudin pleaded guilty to committing the offence at 2.45am on Feb 2 in front of a premise at Gaya Street here.
The court heard from the prosecution that Rafi, who was detained by police on another offence, failed to produce his MyKad when asked during investigation of the said case.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

When asked by the court on the whereabout of his document, Rafi replied that his mother hold it for him.
Rafi was charged under Section 25(1)(n) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 which provides for a fine of up to RM20,000 or up to three years jail on conviction.
