Kota Kinabalu: National Amanah Youth claim some Members of Parliament (MPs), including from Sabah, received government-linked company (GLC) chairmanship posts in return for total support to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Its Communication Director Khairuddin Daud said the allegation is based on a video clip lasting two minutes and 45 seconds that allegedly has a voice similar to Muhyiddin, who was also the Home Minister, offering the GLC chairmanship posts to MPs in a Bersatu meeting in February, this year. In return, he said, the MPs must render full support to Muhyiddin and his leadership as the present Prime Minister.

“National Amanah Youth as well as Amanah Sabah Youth and Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth have jointly lodged a report with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah against Muhyiddin for alleged corrupt practices.

“We see this…as something that is in violation of the MACC Act 2009.

“Therefore, we lodged the report based on the video clip which I have seen and can be viewed in Bersatu TV that was uploaded on May 30, 2020. Khairuddin, who is also Sabah Amanah Election Director, said this in a press conference before lodging the report at MACC Sabah headquarters on Tuesday.

Accompanying him were Sabah PH Youth Secretary Razeef Rakimin and Sabah Amanah Youth Exco member Abu Huzaifah Kamal.

On whether a report would be lodged against those MPs who accepted the offer as an inducement to give support to Muhyiddin, he said they are awaiting feedback from MACC on their report. If MACC needs further information, he said list of GLCs and the MPs who took up the offer and being part of the corruption practices would be disclosed to the agency (MACC) when the need arises.
