Two men charged with taking syabu repeatedly
Kota Kinabalu: Two men were charged with taking syabu repeatedly.

Azizal Linggawang, 38, and Shahizam Lamdin, 40, were brought before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to face the charge against them, respectively, on Tuesday.

However, no plea was taken from the duo pending the pathology reports on the drug.

The court set July 13 for mention of their cases.

Azizal was accused of taking the drug at 9pm on May 24 in an Kota Belud area and that he has one previous conviction for committing similar offence.

Meanwhile, Shahizam allegedly took the drug at 9.30pm on May 21 also in Kota Belud and that he has two previous convictions for taking drug.

They were charged separately under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and read together under Section 39C (1)(b) of the same Act which provides for a jail term of between five and seven years, and whipping, on conviction. The court ordered Azizal and Shahizam to be remanded further pending the date.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Maz Izzaty Lokman appeared for the prosecution while the duo was not represented.

Meanwhile, a man was jailed three months for entering the State illegally.

Al Kamil Nasir admitted to entering the State without any document in an area in Kota Belud on Feb 29 this year.

He was arrested by police after failing to produce valid document.

The court ordered Al Kamil to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and referred to the Immigration Department after completing his jail sentence for deportation.
