Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia's Covid-19 cases jumped by 277 on Thursday, mostly in a Kuala Lumpur immigration detention centre cluster, after days of double-digit daily rises. None of the new cases were registered in Sabah and Labuan.

The Ministry of Health said the new cases consisted of 275 locally transmitted cases and two import ones.

A majority of the new cases, 270, were recorded in the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot cluster.

Meanwhile, a total of 28 more patients recovered, raising the total of discharged cases to 6,559 but the nation's recovery rate dropped to 79.53 percent, below the 80-percent threshold it had been maintaining for weeks.
