Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old unemployed was jailed 14 months and fined RM5,000 or 10 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court for forging a document offering deals on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Mazlan Ahmad pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, Friday, to committing the offence with the purpose of making money at 3pm on April 3 on the third floor of the Wisma Persekutuan, here. Mazlan was ordered to serve the sentence from Friday.

Earlier, Inspector Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit, prosecuting, told the court that investigations revealed that Mazlan had purposely forged the said document by offering a project to supply PPE with a forged signature of the Sabah Health Department Director on it with intention to get pay from the complainant.
The complainant, a senior assistant director of the Sabah Health Department, lodged a police report regarding the document which offered the non-existence project.
Unrepresented, Mazlan requested for a fine, saying he is the sole breadwinner for his family. Mazlan was charged under Section 468 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and liability of a fine on conviction.
Meanwhile, another man claimed trial to trespassing into a house compound.

Azli Hamzah was accused of committing the offence at Kg Rampayan in Manggatal at 8.15pm on June 3.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The court set Aug 12 for case management and released Azli on a bail of RM1,000 in two sureties. Azli was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code.
