Cop among 6 dead in Lahad Datu crash

LAHAD DATU: A policeman was among six people who were killed in a collision involving a lorry, a Proton Saga and Isuzu DMax at Jalan Membatu, Wednesday.District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said preliminary investigations found the Proton Saga and Isuzu DMax were coming from Tungku and heading to Lahad Datu while the lorry was in the opposite direction.

Nasri said the three vehicles were believed to have collided causing the lorry to skid into a ravine while the two other vehicles were badly damaged in the 8.20am tragedy.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Lorry driver, Tajuddin Mansur, 64, Proton Saga driver Mohd Faddhil Abd Jaid, 26, Proton Saga passengers Mohd Jamil Janil, 22, and Hatijah Jakaria as well as the Isuzu DMax driver, the policeman identified as Lizam Ibrahim, 50 and his passenger, Suhana Wahap, 39, were killed on the spot.
“Further investigations are ongoing and the case have been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
