SANDAKAN: Public transport operators and commuters in the State have been reminded to take precautionary measures as well as to obey the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Sabah Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (CVLB) Chairman Datuk Chin Kim Hiung said among the measures is the mandatory wearing of face masks by bus, taxi and e-hailing service drivers and passengers.

“Public transport operators should also provide hand sanitisers in their vehicles,” he said after receiving a courtesy call from the Sabah Taxi Association led by its Chairman Hiew Su Vun, who is also the Chairman of the Sandakan Taxi Association Chairman, here, Saturday.

“Operators should also sanitise and disinfect their vehicles every time after completing an operation.

“They should also register their passengers through the MySejahtera application or take their details manually, including recording their body temperatures.

“As for symptomatic passengers, they are not allowed to use public transport,” he said, adding cashless payment is also encouraged.

Meanwhile, Chin said the courtesy call was to thank Chin for the announcement of the one-off RM600 aid for registered taxi drivers in Sabah from the government, which will be disbursed beginning today (Monday).

He also said other associations like school bus or lorry operators can contact his officer at 019-6773999 to hold a meeting with him so that he can listen and help with their problems.

Also present were Sandakan Bumiputera Taxi Operator and Driver Association Chairman Hanafiah Arpaih and Sandakan Airport Taxi Operator and Driver Association Chairman Mukaramah Abd Rahim.
