LAHAD DATU: A misunderstanding between father and son at a plantation in Kg Ulu Teburi, Tungku, turned ugly with both using sharp weapons and the father ending up being killed on Monday.The 30-year-old son was detained by police after villagers handed him over for the fatal attack with a palm oil loading spike.

The father had also attacked his son with a machete (parang).
District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor said the motive of the incident was believed due to misunderstanding.
Nasri said the father, 62, had called his son over from his wife’s aunt’s house nearby as some work needed to be done and ordered him to buy stones for the road using his lorry.

“When the suspect arrived at his father’s house, he went to the kitchen to cook for his father.

“While cooking, his father called him to go to under their house where he was drinking alcohol,” he said. The two then had a misunderstanding.
According to Nasri, the victim took a machete and threw it at his son, who ran to the lorry parked in front of the house to get the palm oil loading spike.

Nasri said the victim kept chasing the suspect who managed to avoid and hit his father using the spike on the head and body.
The victim fell and rolled to the bottom of the hill, while the suspect ran to his wife aunt’s house to relate the incident.
