KENINGAU: The Sabah Momagun Society Association is monitoring the situation of Sabahans in the peninsula who have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In particular, those from Pensiangan who are facing financial problems since the implementation of CMO (Conditional Movement Order).

Pensiangan Member of Parliament, Arthur Joseph Kurup said there are people from his constituency (Pensiangan) working in the peninsula and burdened by the implementation of CMO, CMCO and RMCO since March 18.

Arthur, who is also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy), recently provided assistance to Garimey Sumpoh who lived in Sungai Buloh, Kuala Lumpur, so that she and her two children could return to Sabah.

Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) Assistant Information Chief, Kahirin Bador said Garimey’s husband, Alfian Justine, managed to return to Sabah before the CMO was implemented for medical treatment.  Alfian worked in a factory in Sungai Buloh for nine years.

“The assistance was handed over by Sabah Momagum Society Association Deputy President Edward Sindam, representing Arthur, at Garimey’s residence in Sungai Buloh. “Garimey is from Kampung Kasumunsung Pensiangan in Nabawan while her husband is from Kampung Ansip in Sook, Keningau,” he said.

He said Arthur’s donation was in the form of food and money after his representative received information about the hardship this family was facing.

According to him, they intend to stay in Sabah upon returning.

“Since the CMO and CMCO, about 500 students studying in peninsula and several family members facing financial difficulties have received donations from Arthur.

“This is to alleviate their burden during the CMO,” he said.  It was earlier reported that there are many Sabahans from the interior doing menial jobs in the peninsula, some even reportedly taking shelter under bridges as they could not afford accommodation and depending on food kitchens to survive.
