Contact SESB if bill has discrepancy, consumers told
Kota Kinabalu: Metered consumers in Sabah who have noticed discrepancies on their recent electricity bill statement are urged to contact the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to have the matter resolved immediately.

Its spokeswoman, when contacted recently, said there was a technical problem that affected the bill statements display which was issued before May 17.

“Many have complained to have still incurring outstanding amounts on their account despite having made a full payment earlier,” she added.

Asked whether the glitch had been settled at this stage, she replied yes, advising affected consumers to come forward soon as possible.

Alternatively, the staff manning its action room for the Economy Stimulus Package 2020 Discount can be contacted at 088-222313, 088-223313 or 088-224313.

As for this case, she said its representative had explained the situation to the complainant.

“His account had an arrears of RM55.80, and this was despite having paid in full in the previous month,” she added.

Chin, the complainant, was taken aback when knowing that he still incurred RM55.80 on his latest bill even after paying his outstanding amounts in full in May.

“Can they explain as to why all of the sudden they put an arrears on my latest bill?,” he asked.

He said the firm should have been very careful in dealing with the calculations on consumers’ bills because there were many who probably could not afford to spend money unnecessarily throughout the lockdown period.

“I also heard shocking news from my friends and colleagues that they were charged exorbitantly when there was less electricity usage at home because they were at their workplace most of the time,” he added.
