The unkempt greenery on this Kepayan roadside is an eyesore.
Kota Kinabalu: City Hall will check on the condition of the greenery growing along a Kepayan housing road, following a rate-payer’s complaint that the verge was an eye-sore.A spokesman for the authority’s Landscaping Department said its staff would have to verify these claims.ADVERTISEMENT
“We will have to determine whether the trees are growing on private or public property before proceeding with further action,” she said.
In the former instance, he said the agency would contact the landowner in question and instruct him/ her to have the trees pruned.
Should the opposite prove to be the case, then City Hall staff will arrange to trim the overgrown branches and trim the weeds, according to him.
SHIN of Kepayan said one part of Taman Kepayan Ridge looked unkempt as no action had been taken to trim the grass and trees there in some time.ADVERTISEMENT
“The open space is covered with weeds and creepers,” he said.
He also voiced his concern that this area might become a breeding ground for pests.

“Snakes and rats have begun to find their way from the open space into my yard.”
He said the housing road was poorly illuminated even though the streetlights there were functioning.
“The brightness of the lights is blocked by the inter-twining branches.
“One gets an eerie feeling when driving or walking on the road at night because only patches of the stretch are lit.”
He feared that unscrupulous parties might take advantage of the situation to carry out misdeeds in the neighbourhood.
Shin also bemoaned the nuisance created by those branches which hung down low over the stretch.
“Some of the branches are so long that they scrape the top of passing vehicles.
“My car has been scratched countless times. I am so fed up of having to fork out to have these blemishes removed at the workshop.”
Shin hoped the local authorities would act to trim the trees before there was a break in or any road user, including pedestrians, came to harm.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
