KENINGAU: IMM13 documents should only be given to eligible individuals, especially war refugees, said Keningau Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) division Chief, Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin here.He said the IMM13 document is for war refugees only because it allows document holders to be recognised by the United Nations (UN) to live in Sabah with various privileges, “he said in a statement here Wednesday.ADVERTISEMENT
The Warisan Supreme Council member criticised Sabah Kadazandusun and Murut (KDM) leaders for backing the move.
Jake said Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president, (Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili) and the Parti Solidarity Tanah Airku (StarSabah) president (Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan) were quick to support the IMM13 document proposal for Burung-Burung and Census Card holders to foreigners living in Sabah.
“Burung-Burung and Census Cards are considered records only and have never been recognized as valid travel documents.
“Even the cardholders can be categorised as illegal immigrants who can be arrested by police if they are found to have entered Sabah without permission.ADVERTISEMENT
“I see a shrimp behind the stone (Udang disebalik batu) in the announcement by Home Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin.
“If allowed to happen as planned by the Federal Government, the status of illegal immigrants will be changed to war refugee status,” he said.

Jake described the Federal Government’s plan as a “back door” attempt to recognize and legalise illegal immigrants in Sabah.
Those IMM13- illegal immigrants will be privileged and will most likely be Malaysian citizens.
He added that Sabah leaders, especially KDM leaders, should protest before it’s too late.
“Sabah leaders and especially KDM leaders should not be too enthusiastic to become ‘pak turut’ (follower) to the Federal Government. KDM leaders should be more aware of the rights of the people of Sabah and think deeply about the long-term impact on our grandchildren.
“Don’t it was too late (Jangan nasi jadi bubur). Don’t regret it later after the KDM rights are all eroded. “
“Dr. Jeffrey and Dr. Maximus should have known that IMM13 is tied to the various privileges that the Malaysian Government needs to obey. But why are they so quick to agree to grant these privileges to foreigners? IMM13 was awarded to illegal immigrants?, “he question.
Commenting on recent statements of Dr. Jeffrey, Jake asks what the guarantee after IMM13 is given, will illegal immigrants be sent to their home country.
“What is the guarantee that illegal immigrants will be repatriated after IMM13 is granted? If the KDN is truly sincere in this effort, we ask that the KDN send the existing holders back instead of increasing their numbers with the new registration.
“Before they used to say that IMM13 holders would be sent home. Does not happened. Even more illegal immigrants holders were given IMM13. Over the year more and more IMM13 holders became citizens, more illegal immigrants became voters could vote. Over the years, the rights of Sabahans have been eroded. As the years go by, the KDM’s political power diminishes, ”he said.
Jake concluded that KDM leaders should work together regardless of political beliefs to protect the dignity and rights of the KDM people from being abused by the Federal Government.
He said this should be the time when all KDM leaders put aside their political beliefs and defend the fate of the KDM community. Unfortunately for the sake of remuneration and political position in Putrajaya, some have been willing to compromise and betray the aspirations of the KDM community.
According to him, they should not forget. They had earlier out load urged the illegal immigrants to be sent back home. Today, after receiving a position in Putrajaya, they have suddenly lost interest in sending illegal immigrants home.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

“All of a sudden, they said the IMM13 was offering foreigners a good proposal. All of a sudden, they want to maintain illegal immigrants in Sabah. All of a sudden they agreed to the privileges granted to illegal immigrants.
“This means that the struggle of the KDM and the people of Sabah generally in resolving the problem of illegal immigrants has been futile and ended with the betrayal of certain leaders,” he said.
