Duo jailed and fined for inconsiderate driving

KOTA BELUD: Two men were jailed and fined by the Traffic Court, here, for careless and inconsiderate driving which resulted in an accident and caused injuries to other motorists.Bakrin Nasib, 35, and Abdul Fikri Abd Muin, 19, pleaded guilty separately to their respective charges before Magistrate Afiq Agoes, Wednesday.

Bakrin was sentenced to four months’ jail and fined RM4,000 or three months jail for driving a car carelessly which caused an accident which resulted in motorcyclist Byron Pius and his pillion rider Mackenzie Darius suffering serious injuries. Bakrin committed the offence at 12.30am on March 13 this year at Kg Tempasuk II, Jalan Botung.
He was ordered to serve the jail term effectively from Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Fikri was handed a day’s jail and fined RM4,000 or three months jail for driving a 4WD vehicle carelessly and caused an accident which resulted in motorcyclist Hafizan Madin suffering serious injuries.
The offence was committed at 2.40pm on Dec 9, 2019 at Taman Nikmat junction, Jalan Kota Belud-Tuaran.

Both Bakrin and Fikri were charged under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amended 1999) which carries a fine of between RM4,000 and RM10,000 and liable to jail of up to 12 months, upon conviction.
