1,000 quit Warisan in Libaran
SANDAKAN: More than 1,000 Warisan members from 11 branches in the Libaran parliamentary constituency left the party on Friday.

They were said to be from the Sejati 1, Kg Gayan Batu 10, Sri Hujung, Taman Sejati 5, Kg Nelayan Tengah, Sejati 2, Muhibbah, Sejati 4, Taman Sejati 3 and Kg Sg Batang Tengah branches.

Sejati 1 branch chief Ibrahim Yusof, in announcing the move, said their decision was not related to any top leaders but of their own volition.

“We had been loyal to the party from the start. However, after we won the general election, we were forgotten,” he said at a press conference here.

Only one branch, Sri Hujung, has been registered with the Registrar of Societies while the rest are still awaiting registration. “Are we, party loyalists since the beginning, not important anymore and what’s the reason for remaining with the party that has forgotten us?” they lamented.

“After two years, a factory promised in Sandakan to develop the local people has still not materialised.”

Going forward, the leaving party members said they would be independent of any party while Ibrahim said he was considering joining Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah.
