RANAU: A lorry driver and his assistant suffered minor injuries after their 10-tonne vehicle skidded and overturned at Km 6 of Ranau-Tamparuli road, near Kg Kibbas, on Thursday.

Ranau District Police Chief DSP Sammy Newton said the accident occurred about 11.06pm when the lorry carrying hardware items was on its way from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan.

“It occurred along a downhill stretch which is slightly curved and was wet. “Upon reaching the location, the 33-year Bugis driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed the right side of the road before it landed upside down,” he said.

He reminded road users to exercise extra care when on the road, especially when going downhill, negotiating a bend and approaching junctions, apart from ensuring their vehicles are in good condition.
