Ranau man held over syabu

RANAU: A local man was arrested after allegedly possessing suspected Syabu in front of an unmarked house in Kg Dumpiring Atas Kundasang, here, Thursday.District Police Chief DSP Sammy Newton (pic) said the 20-year-old suspect was arrested by a team of who was conducting Ops Tapis at about 1.30am.

During the arrest, the suspect was seen behaving suspiciously.
Police found a small transparent plastic packet containing crystalline powder suspected to be Syabu weighing 0.30gm worth RM150 concealed in his pants’ pockets.

The suspect was taken to Ranau District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and also under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Sammy reminded all levels of the Ranau community to refrain from engaging in drug activities and urged them to continue providing information on drug abuse in their areas to the police.
