Pedestrian, 61, dies in Tawau accident

TAWAU: A 61-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was knocked down by a Proton Iswara at KM37 Jalan Apas/Balung, here, at about 6.50am on Saturday.The deceased, Sudarsono bin Sastro, and his 57-year-old wife were on their way to Kalumpang from Sri Titingan flat.

The deceased held a barrel of gas when the car, driven by a 45-year-old farmer, crashed into him. The driver was unhurt in the incident.
Sudarsono was sent to the Balung Health Clinic before being brought to Tawau hospital by ambulance.

At about 9.30am the same day, he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment at Tawau Hospital Emergency Unit due to serious injuries.
District police chief ACP Peter Umbuas said this case is investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987.
