No discussions on EPF withdrawal age

KENINGAU: The Prime Minister’s Department has not held any discussions on raising the age limit for full withdrawal of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings from 55 to 65 years.Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economics), Arthur Joseph Kurup (pic), said it was only a suggestion from a World Bank commentator and not a government effort to implement the change.

“It is a recommendation from the World Bank by a commentator, so we will only review the proposal without any disclaimer at this time.
“Everyone is free to make suggestions. He or she has a purpose of making such a proposal, so the government will review it and if any decision is made, we will announce it,” he said. Arthur said this when met by the media at the Sook Sub-District and Nabawan Sub-District Patrol Scheme (SRS) at the Simpang Empat Village Hall in Sook, near here, on Friday.
