4 held for syabu in Ranau

RANAU: Four men were arrested in two separate locations after being found with syabu.

Ranau Police Chief Deputy Supt Sammy Newton said the first involved a 23-year-old and a 24-year-old suspect.

He said acting on surveillance, a team from the Ranau District Police Headquarters (IPD) raided a hut in Kg Kituntul Lama which was used as a den for drug activities.

“During the raid, police arrested the suspects and seized several packets of syabu drug weighing 6.70bm estimated worth RM400.

“One of the suspects has a previous record for drug offences under Section 12(2) and Section 15 (1)(a).

The second arrest involved suspects aged 28 and 48.

According to DSP Sammy. the two suspects were detained in front of a shared house in Kg Beduyon, on Sunday night, as a result of a tip off.

“The two tried to escape, but were arrested and police found a box of cigarettes containing several packets of suspected syabu weighing 13.86gm.

“The estimated price of the seized drug is RM800. Police also found that the two suspects had previous criminal record under Section 39A (1), Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1)(a).

The four were remanded. The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of ADB 1952,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He reminded the community especially in the area to refrain from drug activities.

“The operation to combat drug abuse will continue. The community is urged to cooperate by providing information to the police. The details of the informants will be confidential,” he added.
