TAWAU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Tawau protem head-cum-Apas Assemblyman, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan called on the government to come up with a more concrete method in building more houses through the People’s Housing Programme (PPRM) for low-income households, particularly in Apas.

Nizam said these affordable homes should be built to accommodate many of the people who have no place to live in Tawau, so that they can rent with low fees.

He was representing the Minister in Prime Minister’s Department for Special Functions in the Perikatan Nasional administration, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, in distributing RM20,000 to 40 households (RM500 each) comprising 158 fire victims at Kampung Haji Sundu near Batu 2, Jalan Apas here.

“This is my third visit here and I sympathise for these 158 fire victims who have been made homeless in this fire on June 17. I thank the government agencies, non-government agencies and community leaders for their kindly visit and contribution to the fire victims here,” he said.

Nizam warned the villagers to be more alert and not take it for granted. They were urged to get advice from the district municipal council and district fire and rescue department before building houses.
