Activist offers to file Pan Borneo road death lawsuits
The recent accident at Pan Borneo highway that claimed the lives of three people.
LABUAN: Activist Datuk Patrick Sindu concerned and unhappy over the regular road accidents at a particular stretch of the new Pan Borneo highway has volunteered to help file a class action suit against those responsible.

In a class action lawsuit one person could represent a group of people who had been harmed the same way.

Patrick said the accident prone section was between Gana to Kawang. Between the two points were two other villages, Kainiki and Madsiang.

“The stretch runs for about 15km and had not been officially handed over to the Public Works Department nor I understand been given the certificate of fitness yet. But it had been opened up for use though not fully ready and as a result has become an accident-prone road.”

He added that he himself had driven on the road to check the complaints made and found that there were no signages on the road leading to driving confusion adding there were no road marking as well “when I drove to Kota Kinabalu I found certain stretches of the road to be tricky.”

Patrick said that he was unable to tell the number of accidents that had so far occurred on the stretch but said he knew of several and some were serious with lives lost.

He sympathised with all those who lost their  love ones and suffered other damages due to the road.

“As some of the victims affected may not know how to seek compensation or find it inconvenient to do so acting as solo, I have decided to act on their behalf to take up the matter through the proper channel such as a class action but I need the victims to present the details of the accident (s) and other information to pursue the matter further.” Patrick who is based in Papar, could be contacted at 019-8117369.
