TAWAU: Nineteen people, including nine women, were arrested for staging a wild party at a house in Taman Nordin, here, on Tuesday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Peter Umbuas said the group including three Indonesians, aged between 21 and 31, were picked up during “Ops Parti Liar/Covid-19” at 8.30am.

“Inspections revealed that all of them did not observe social distancing measures, besides testing positive for ketamine, amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.

Peter said all the suspects were also issued with compounds and placed under remand for further investigations.

He said the suspects would be probed for various offences, including under the Dangerous Drugs Act, Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act and Immigration Act.

ACP Umbuas reminded the public to continue practising social distancing and to adhere to strict regulations under the Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO).
