President Cup tentatively scheduled for Dec

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Hockey Association (SHA) President Cup Championship this year was tentatively scheduled in December, said its President Dato’ Sri Dr Anil Jeet Singh on Monday.Anil, who is also Malaysia Hockey Association Vice President-cum-competition committee chairman, said the decision was reached following a Supreme Council meeting headed by him at the association’s office in Penampang over the weekend.

“We had our Supreme Council Meeting held over the weekend and the staging of the President Cup Championship was among the main issues raised during the meeting.
“The council agreed to go ahead with the staging of the championship (President Cup) in December but it will be subjected to the approval and clearance from the relevant authorities,” he said.
The preparation for the state to take part in three national championships this year was also discussed by the committee during the meeting.
“We had also discussed and endorsed on other matters pertaining to the sport in the state, that include the preparation for three major national championships that will be held later this year,” he said.

Also present were Deputy President Datin Hajah Nuinda Hj Alias as well as vice presidents Jokopurwanto Jimin, Dedi Saputra Mohd Rasyid, Josy Majalap and Ajin Wahid together with Secretary Avtar Singh Bal, his assistant Hasrul Jideh, and Treasurer Pritam Singh.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

For the record, the previous President Cup championship was also held in December last year.

The men’s title was won by Sports School Malaysia Sabah (SSMS) who beat Putatan 2-0 in the final, while the Sabah Under-14 team edged Tawau 1-0 to take the women’s title.
