RM2.5b awaited
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government hopes the Federal Government will allocate more funds in the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12) to implement flood mitigation programmes in Sabah.“We have a very major flood problem in Sabah,” said State Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Junz Wong (pic), citing areas such as Penampang, Putatan, Kota Kinabalu and Sepanggar, among them. “I think we need to understand the facts first, that during the RMK-7 the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) did a flood mitigation plan for Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Penampang and Sepangar and estimated at least RM3 billion was needed at that time.
