Kota Kinabalu: The government should prioritise helping the people rather than engaging in political games when people are suffering, said Party Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Women Division Chairperson, Wan Limbisah. “There are many poor families in Sabah facing difficulties during this period and the State Government should take immediate action instead of focusing on who will be the next prime minister or changing the name of the Village Community Management Council (MPKK),” she said in a statement.

She said many areas in Sabah were affected by the rainy season. She said this after visiting several residents in Kg Dambai in Inanam following complaints from residents there. Also present was Kg Dambai Inanam Branch Chief, Martin Malubi. “We were made to understand that these residents applied for assistance from the Inanam Assemblyman and his team many years ago but that there was no follow-up thus far. “The dilapidated condition of their houses in addition to the rainy season made residents feel disappointed with the State Government,” she said. She said the residents complained of not having any solution that resorted them to turn to the Inanam Assemblyman and his team for help. She said that people were sent to inspect the area but there was no follow-up after that. “Aren’t people’s troubles and welfare a priority? It is disappointing how the State Government handles the matter,” she said. She urged the State Government to assist the affected residents, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic and the rainy season. “If the State Government doesn’t help them, no one can help them,” she said.
