NABAWAN: The State Rural Development Ministry wants the Mini Sejahtera Estates (Mesej) programme to be continued as a bridge for the government to help the poor and needy as well as boost the economy.

Its Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said there is a need for a mechanism to help the people in rural areas who are still far behind in terms of housing infrastructure, economy and education to be developed, especially Mesej participants.

“I have suggested to the State Government to provide a special allocation for housing programmes for the poorest people, especially in the Mesej villages,” he said.
