RM1.8b SME Bank scheme to aid sectors after Sept
Kuala Lumpur: SME Bank has introduced the SME Relief Programme (SRP) to assist its customers in the tourism, transportation, education and health sectors after the blanket moratorium period ends on Sept 30.

The programme, which involves total financing of more than RM1.8 billion, would benefit 3,000 customers, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (pic) said.

“At the same time, other SME (small and medium enterprise) entrepreneurs are also encouraged to discuss with their respective financing providers for post-moratorium assistance,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, group president and chief executive officer Aria Putera Ismail said in line with SME Bank’s efforts to ensure the sustainability of SME entrepreneurs, all its existing customers were eligible to apply for the assistance offered.

“Two forms of assistance are offered, namely the Indulgence Programme, which refers to the deferment of payment of the principal and financing profit rate, and the second programme involves the payment of the profit rate only,” he explained.

Aria said for eligible customers, an extension from the initial financing period might also be considered.

“This will allow them to manage their cash flow more efficiently and improve their business plans during the recovery period from Covid-19,” he added.

SME Bank customers who wish to obtain more information on the SRP may contact the bank’s customer service centre at (03)26037700 or contact their branch relationship manager.
