Public urged to comply with electricity installation, connection rules

LAHAD DATU: Members of the public are urged to fully comply with the specifications of the installation or connection of electricity supply in their homes or business premises.

District Head of Fire and Rescue Station, Sumsoa Rashid said this is to prevent accidents that can endanger the public including firefighters in the event of fire incident.

He said this following the recent fire incident involving an electric cable at Taman Panji Park last Thursday.

He said that the department received a distress call at 8.36pm and that upon arrival, firefighters found the fire involved electric cable and immediately contacted the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to cut off the power supply in the area.

“The team later managed to control the fire after 18 minutes before completely putting it out at 9.22pm.
