Escapee, 13, caught for having drugs

Kota Kinabalu: A 13-year-old foreigner who escaped from the temporary detention centre in Manggatal last April was caught with suspected drugs in Kg Delima here. City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji (pic) said six packets containing 5.74gm of syabu worth about RM574 were found on the boy who tried to avoid arrestt.

Initial findings showed that the youngster was a middleman in selling drugs in Kg Delima. v His arrest came following intelligence and public information on drug addict hubs to ensure substance abuse and drug distribution is eradicated.
The case is being probed under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries up to five years jail , and up to nine strokes of the cane, upon conviction.
The arrest was also to identify and act against drug distribution syndicates in the area.
Efforts to eradicate drug distribution and substance abuse in the city has been intensified from time to time, added Habibi.
