Kota Kinabalu: The state Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) intercepted a Vietnam-registered fishing vessel that encroached Sabah waters and detained its 25 crew members at 29 nautical miles northwest of Mantanani Island at 4.45pm.
Sabah and Labuan MMEA Director First Admiral (Maritime) Mohd Rosli Abdullah said a maritime patrol boat detained the vessel along with its 25 undocumented Vietnamese crew members aged between 18 and 50 during “Operation Naga Timur” and “Operation Sejahtera”.

He said the foreign fishing boat did not have neither documents or permission from the Director of Fisheries Malaysia to carry out fishing activities in Malaysian waters.
