Lahad Datu MCA hopes to contest in Segama

LAHAD DATU: Lahad Datu MCA Chairman Datuk Teah Heok Kuin hopes that MCA will be given the opportunity to contest in the coming State Election.He said although MCA basically represent the Chinese community, the party had no qualms defending the people regardless of race and religion.

He said MCA hoped to contest in new constituency Segama.
“We do not want the existing seats but offer ourselves to contest in Segama because we do not want to be embroiled in the issue of seizing seats from Umno.
“We ask for this seat on the basis of continuing the understanding and consensus that has been intertwined for a long time between parties in Barisan Nasional (BN),” he said.
According to him, the list of candidates has been sent to the BN Chairman for consideration.

He said that Segama is of mixed population but that MCA has a fairly goood chance of winning the seat.
“We hope that Chinese leaders will be be given the opportunity to contest so that there will be an increase in the number of seats for MCA candidates.

“This is in line with the spirit of power-sharing and consensus that we have been practising with BN parties,” he said.
