Kota Kinabalu: A Facebook post by former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman (pic) has sparked speculation over where he might stand in the coming state election.

Musa is the incumbent for the Sungai Sibuga seat in Sandakan. However, in a post on his Facebook, he said: “I’m going back to Sungai Manila.”

Many social media users took it as a sign that Musa, who is Sabah’s longest-serving Chief Minister, will contest the Sungai Manila seat in Libaran.

Nominations for the Sabah election will take place on Saturday and the polls will be held on Sept 26.

Meanwhile, dropping a bombshell a day before the announcement of its candidates, BN said Musa is not listed among its contesting candidates.

The announcement was made by Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, according to Astro Awani.

“I have not held any discussions on that (Musa going back to Sungai Manila).

“His name is also not on the list of BN candidates scheduled to be announced,” he was quoted as saying. Umno and BN are scheduled to announce their candidates for the coming polls Thursday.

Sungai Manila is one of the 13 new seats in the Libaran parliamentary constituency. Musa had won Sungai Sibuga with a 2,184 majority in the 2018 election.
